WET'N'WILD GETS SUNSMART WITH SID SEAGULL

Wet’n’Wild recently teamed up with The Cancer Council Queensland and Sid Seagull in an effort to encourage people to up the ante on their SunSmart practices this summer.

Sid Seagull visited the water park during National Skin Cancer Action Week, giving out sunscreen and teaching patrons about the importance of being SunSmart.

The Cancer Council Queensland’s Gold Coast Prevention and Early Detection Co-ordinator Rachel Hull said National Skin Cancer Action Week, held from November 18 to 24, was an opportune time to highlight the dangers posed by exposure to the sun.

“People can help prevent skin cancer by wearing a broad-spectrum, water resistant SPF 30+ sunscreen; covering up with sun protective clothing, as well as a hat and sunglasses when exposed to the sun; and seeking shade wherever possible,” she said.

Skin cancers account for 80 per cent of all new cancers diagnosed each year in Australia, and at least one in every two Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime.

Check your skin regularly and if you notice any changes or new spots, see your doctor straight away.
